R1/R2 engine block color?

Were all R1/R2 blocks painted black from the factory? Were there any other colors ever used?

Yep, they were black. But if you want to paint it purple, do so if it makes you happy. Just don't get POed if you loose points in judging.

Thanks, mine is black and will stay that way even though I will never subject Henrietta to to rigors of points judging..... just asking for a friend.

Well, she does have R3 style headers... but black helps hide the residue from the Studebaker automatic frame oiling system.
