This may have been asked, but what are the little holes for on the bottom side of the front bumper of our GT Hawk? You are looking at the bottom side under the mounting hole for the bumper guard. There are two, one under each bumper guard bolt hole. My guess is they have something with process to apply chrome.

To: fpstude,----I believe somewhere along the line someone drilled mount holes for driving lights, etc.

Perhaps it was for speedster type fog lights? (that PO might have installed)?

The fog lights would mount through the standard bumper bracket holes. A PO could have drilled the small holes to fish a fog light wire through but...WHY?
Quite probably a mounting for some after market driving light.

Just to clarify, the holes are 1/8" diameter.

I have seen drilled bumpers at the South Bend swap a few years ago. Everyone that a vendor had as a matter of fact, I think that they were drilled so they could hang them in the plating tanks during the plating process.

We don't do that, But I have seen SOME platers that do.

I have a bumper with 2 extra 1/8" holes above the lic plate, perhaps for little rubber bumpers?
we solder terminals on the back of bumpers and remove after they are plated.

Jerry I heard your work is the best ! I would have you do my plating in a heart beat. If a member had his car judged at a SDC meet and he had these 1/8 inch holes in his cars bumper would the judges
take off points for the 1/8 inch holes being in the bumper ?

To: avanti76,------ If the judges did, it would have to be in a scenario where two perfect Studes both scored 400 points in the same class and the judges just HAD to find something! But a much more fair way to handle
a situation like that would be to call it a draw and simply cut the trophy in half with a bandsaw!

Thanks for the responses. I checked with the shop that plated the bumper abour 4 years ago. He doesn't remember for sure, but they probably drilled the holes. They do this if bumper guards will hide the holes, which is the case.
