  • Studebaker profiles

Our chapter has a project of making Studebaker silhouettes as a fund raiser/decorations. The local woodworking association would like to cooperate in this venture. We need to find various models of Studes in a straight side view to get the outline of the vehicle. These could be photos or line drawings. Any year or model would be helpful.

We have searched years of Turning Wheels but all the pictures follow the editors advice to shoot a quartering picture, thus no silhouettes. Do any of your technical publications show a plain side view?
Maybe some sales materials show a car or truck in that position.

Thank you for any help, advice or information you may provide.

My pictures are somewhat limited because I also always prefer the 3/4 angle shots, here are some, mostly from the internet.

What about the body parts catalogs? I know the Larks are in there.

A few years ago at the York Swap Meet the vendor next to me was a young man who had made a bunch of Studebaker silhouettes of plasma-cut sheet metal. They averaged about ten inches in width. I got the two below, but he had many different ones. Unfortunately I don't have his contact info. The Avanti is a wall hanger and the '53 has a base allowing it to stand upright. Yes, I know it isn't a side view, but I added it to show his work.

Here is a site "Old Car Manual Project"

They list numerous years for brochures for Studebaker from 1910 to 1966. Some of the brochures have side profiles. I did not look them all over I know the 1957 had a full side view.
Their home page offers brochures for many auto manufactures. I have downloaded pictures for various autos.

I believe all body parts catalogs have side view line drawings; perfect for your purpose.

These are all prototypes, might be good for something?

Thanks everyone, the pictures posted. Stude Rich that is a nice variety and we should be able to pick out five different models that we are looking for.
