Electrical: Fan Switch Part Number

I find switch #522360 for heater/defroster fan listed for 47-48 car and 49-59 truck at SI. SW also lists it for late 40s car and for the trucks.

Is this switch compatable with both 6 and 12 volt systems and fan motors?

Norm, switches do not care (within reason) how many volts they are carrying. The AMP rating on a 6 volt switch would be the same or more likely higher than a 12 volt, so you should be good to go.

That switch was used only for Defrost Fan on Cars, and for Heat/Def. on '49-'59 Trucks.
So it was used on both 6 volt and 12 volt systems.

The thing that varies on the Instrument, Heater and Defroster switches is the size of the resistor used to slow the speed on "Low" setting, if you always use "High" speed (full power) which is usually needed to get any action out of the system anyway, you will have no problems like smoke coming from the summer's dust on the resistor when you fire it up the first time in Winter.
