My sister-in-law sent the clipping below from the Iola (Kansas) Register. Race took place on the Humboldt Speedway. Humboldt is a small town in Southeast Kansas.



Kind of a shame to have cut up what looks like a very decent Starlight coupe.

But then on the other hand, brought a measure of attention and an additional moment of glory to the Studebaker name, through utilization of what most likely was a junkyard derelict that might otherwise have already been recycled into another anonymous Japanese tuna can.

Absolutely [what Jesse said].

Studebaker made over 100,000 bullet-nose Starlight Coupes (110,492, to be exact), so there are plenty to go around for any variety of purposes. Ditto 1949-1953 pickups; they're all over the place, hiding in barns and fields all across our fruited plains. Long after we're all gone, there will still be more to be unearthed.

Dont see how you can make the distinction of this car being "DECENT"? I see this as the remains of many parts cars that completed a frame off restoration, that now sits in a climate controlled garage!
