  • Need help ID'ing trunk mat please

Can you all help me identify this trunk mat? It is NOS and is the original fabric material (not rubber).

    Thanks.

Appears to be a woven mat for '47-'52.

This Mat has a standup spare hole like '53 to '55 Sedans had. The Material is original: (Matex?)

Didn't '47-'52's have the lay down spare tire?

The woven ones from 47-52 look alot like the later 53-55 but I am pretty sure the 53-55 were not made of woven material. I have an original 62 Mat and it is the same colors and patterns but is vinyl like stuff (almost plasctic) and not woven with a jute/hogshair backing....... The picture makes this looks long. maybe for a 2 dr ? ( by the way 47-52 did have a stand up spare tire)

The original mat in my dad's 52 Land Cruiser was woven, but a different color than that. The one in my Champion was rubber.

'47-'52 trunk mants were rubber, however that looks like it's the only thing it would fit! It's not the same as the "hounds tooth" pattern on Hawks. My guess is it's a really nice aftermarket.

*Also, 1947-48 cars and 1949-52 models used different trunk mats. The one pictured appears to be like the '49-'52 version. I've never seen anything like it.

Did it have a Studebaker Parts box, or better yet a part number??

47-48 spares laid down flat on the trunk floor (taking up about a third of the useable space). 49 and later were stand-up.

I have two NOS mats for the 58 Packard version of the President. They have the exact same color and have a cloth type backing. I purchased them for my 58 President, since I was unable to get the NOS ones for it. I thought that color scheme was only for the Packards?????

Folks, thank you for the ideas on what this trunk mat may fit but I don't think there is a consensus yet. Looks like we might be narrowing in on 1949 to 1952 though? I want to sell it and want to describe it as accurately as possible. Any other thoughts out there would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

All you need it narrow it down is to measure the WIDTH left to right, as the '49-'52s are narrow and the '53-'55 Sedans are wider.
