  • OceanBay Chapter goes transcendental

    The OceanBay Chapter of SDC (Mass. and RI) met at the Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, Mass. on May 20. Fruitlands has some buildings from local Shaker villages, a native American collection, and the house that Bronson Alcott and the Transcendentalists occupied in the early 1840's, including Alcott's daughter Lousisa May Alcott, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, and others.

    It's a great setting on a ridge overlooking central Massachusetts. You can see Mt. Monadnock in NH, about 50 miles away. We had the perfect late spring day, 80 degrees, blue skies, and low humidity. Anong the cars were Howard Clayman's 1989 Avanti convertible and Arthur Masmanian's 1951 4-door, pictured below.
