  • super charger belt

I have been reading here that one the problems with early water pump wear is the belt tension. Would it be possible to use an electric water pump/ motor thus removing the pump from the belt circuit?

The Hawk and Lark supercharger belt arrangement did not encompass the water pump, it was included with the crankshaft and alternator/generator. The Super Charger belt was large and driven only off of the crankshaft pulley and included a heavy spring loaded tensioner Only the Avanti double belt system included the water pump pulley, and it was also kept tight by spring tensioner. This is why the Avanti uses the HD water pump with the reinforcement ridges in the casting. Hope this helps.

Modifying an aftermarket electric water pump, such as that for the big block Mopar, to fit the Stude manifold wouldn't be particularly difficult, if one is a machinist and has a mill.

But then, what would drive the alternator/generator, AC and PS?
