Dash switch question

I'm replacing my 53 coupe dash with a 56 item, much prettier in my opinion.
So I'll be replacing my light, inst light, and wiper switches with 56 items as well.

I see all the terminals are numbered or lettered on both 53 and 56 switches, would it be safe to assume they are the same as each other?

So that i could just unplug the wires and plug into same lettered terminal on the new switch?

My experience is lettered switches are compatible.

O it's coming along, seems slow, but am happy with the results so far.
I'm trying to remember to take pictures too.
I tell you , that guy doing the work is pretty slow, I would fire him, but can't find anyone else stupid enough to work in a cold garage for free.
Guess I'll have to keep him.
