  • Help with paint choice 1960 Convertable pics added

I've got this 1960 Lark convertable in the shop getting it ready for the Summer drives.

It has been stored pretty well (since 1970 something) and the owner is thinking about changing the color to candy apple red. (no metalic)

Can someone photo shop me this car with torque thrusts, candy apple red, and a white top?

also, I know it comes up all the time, but what is the part number/size of wheels that will fit?? (Something about 6 inches and the acceptable back spacing)

    Thanks in advance.

The first car my brother bought in 1961 was a '60 lark convertible, black with red interior. Black or red both are great colors for the Lark 'vert.

Dave Arnold's Lark is a beauty alright. So is Lark8girls. Mine looks sad next to these two but hopefully in the near future, it will be back to a glorious condition. I miss Dave here in the forum. He has contributed alot to the club & the Studebaker name.

The '60 convertible that I owned from '82 to '85 (and that I STILL regret selling) was Jonquil Yellow, another common '60 convertible color. One of my favorites. Actually, looking at the 1960 Studebaker colors available, I liked all of them that year.

I'll vote for a deep dark red too, Mike.

Dave Arnold's former car was a real sweetie. It now lives in Australia. Here's a pic I took riding shotgun in '09.

The factory Colonial Red for that year is just perfect for that car. I don't believe candyapple red would be any improvement over the factory red.

Lol! Does the term "One in a Million" or "Needle in a Haystack" have any meaning to you?

By the 1960's there would be very, very few people that would even think about doing that, especially to a short car, more common on longer, lowered in the rear, early 1950's cars with fender skirts.

I thought it was a factory install, with the body colored spacer, tire mount, and extended bumper mount. My brother had a '60 convertible black with red interior identical to yours without, of course, the "needle in the haystack" mounted on the back of the car. An even more outrageous use of the continental kit was on a Nash Metropolitan, which I did see several examples of years ago. Back in the day, he had the hubcaps swapped out for the 3 bar spinner hubcaps or the full "moons", depending on his mood. Nice looking car, keep the greasy side down!

ID:	1672148More pictures of the suspension getting done. We put in the new MOOG front springs, Gabriel shocks, rebuilt the Bell crank, rebushed the suspension, and put in new king pin bushings and bearings and other parts as needed.....
