:) Our disc brake guru Jim Turner isn't one to blow his own horn, so I'll toot it for him. [:0] Honk. [:0]

He has finally finished the 1962 Daytona Convertible he's been working on for the last three years and has it on e-bay. To be blunt, Jim is playing down the quality of work he has done to this car. Few, if any, 1960-1964 convertibles left South Bend with the quality of panel fit Jim has achieved on this car. The paint quality is superb, as you would expect with Jim's expertise.

The result is not a show car, but it would be a solid second-place car out of our 400 points, and maybe higher depending on whether or not the judges wanted some free brake parts that day. ;) (oops, did I say that?) The mechanicals are superb, as Jim describes. This will make someone a doggone nice, high-quality driver / tour car. They might even go nuts and show it, in which case it would hold its own against all but the most fastidious trailer queen on the lawn. BP

Admittedly, he probably won't sell it within SDC, but if you know anyone looking for one of these, here it is. (Yes, he knows it needs the V-8 emblem on the deck lid, but he has run out of energy after setbacks he had to fix correctly before offering the car for sale, so please don't beat him up on the forum. Thanks.)

Jim showed me a picture of the car at Reedsville, painted but not yet assembled... gorgeous workmanship![:p][:p]

If you're in the market for one of these, you can't go wrong with this one- based on the type of person Jim is, it's a safe bet it's 100% top notch!

I didn't know he was doing a 62 Daytona convertible. He should post pictures on his web site of the work he did just like he did on the 52 Commander convertible he did. It is amazing!

52 Ragtop

Bob, you always "play it up" It's a decent car, it had some problems when I got it, they are "resolved now" This little ragtop (little compared to my 52 ragtop) is a blast to drive, with power steering it makes it a dream. Yes, I know it's missing the V-8 emblem on the trunk! But, that's minor compared to what it was. Had a nice drive to the Castleton mall in traffic and no vapor lock! Made sure I caught the signals and not zipped through them! <G> It was a lot of fun and work, and a BIG Thanks to Lee D. for his pictures and advice.
This will make somebody a nice driver.
