63 Avanti serial tag-I can't find it-HELP!

I went to Cal. DMV today to get the car registered. They couldn't find
any serial number tag and neither could I. I now have to take it in the
morning to CHP. Maybe it is just plain missing. Any one know
where it should be located? On my other studes it is on the drivers A post.
I'm in deep yogurt cause they need it in two places and I can't even show them one!

Top of the right side frame rail, under the hood.

It should be very easy to see once the frame is wiped clean, it is straight down in front of the firewall on top of the right frame rail, ignore the body tag on the right inner fender.

And they do have a book showing where all Serial numbers and secret frame numbers are located, you must have talked to the WRONG officer.

Gosh! I would never have thought to look at the frame rail.

As already said...wipe the frame rail clean. The tag is probably under a lot of grease and crud.

Don't use any HD cleaners or solvents, they will wipe off the paint on the plate.
