Uh-oh. I'm afraid Studebaker was experimenting with water-borne paint on the Speedster line and one car was sent down the road to the Proving Ground in the rain before it dried:

John Deere country, or deleted test footage from the Wizard of Oz?
I'm going to miss Kodachrome.

I've always heard the Studebaker bigwigs were a bit conservative. Wonder how that green/yellow color combo got by them? (those colors really seem to work on the Speedster though. I've owned a few Studes, and none received
more positive attention than the green/yellow Speedster I used to own). I guess I've gotten more conservative also, as the Speedster I have now is 100% velvet black!

I believe, but am not certain, that there are two Speedsters with that color scheme being auctioned off at B-J this week.

I like the Greenish-Yellow Speedster combos BUT, I'm way to conservative to own one. It sreams out "look at me" which is what Studebaker wanted in 1955. My wife laughs at my monochromatic tendency towards all black suits and in-fact sports clothes. In any event when I was actively seeking out a Speedster I exluded the Green-yellow ones. I guess I'm a bit too good at the old Marine Corp adage regarding volunteering; " stand in the middle of the crowd and look average."

Yeah,

I checked there were two. One's already been sold; the other is in the exclusive 5000 series that will be sold Saturday afternoon beginning at 5:00 pm (Scott'sdale time???). It's number 25 of the 30 cars in the 5000 series.

To stall: Was Your Speedster once owned by Bob Johannessen of Maryland? If it was, I saw it in Massachusetts in 1990. Beautiful car. I remember the spotlight. Also, I think He had rear fender skirts on it at the time. Like My Speedster,
it's a stick o/d model.

You guys forget Green and Yellow are the proper colors for the Speedster.

To: klifton1----You mean the proper colors for 763 of the 2215 Speedsters built, correct?

Is it just me??
I love green cars. And I love C/K Studebakers.
But....I just can't say I get excited about the Lime & Yrllow paint combo on Speedsters????????????????????/

It's an acquired taste, but it sure keeps my garage lite inside. A like or leave it thing.
