I have a 1,5 ton studebaker truck 1949. Can some one help me wire my back up light. can not find ware to hookup. Did this truck have a backup light.

I don't think they had that for an option. ...could be wrong though.If there wasn't there wouldn't of been a backup switch hooked up to the linkage . You could hook one up and just use a toggle switch to turn on when you want it .

If it has the 4 Speed floor shift as most do it would be next to impossible to make the ball swivel shift lever trip any kind of switch. A '49 predates any Transmissions with built in B/U Light switches by around 20 years at least.

In the rare case of a heavier duty Truck having a 3 Speed Column shift, there are many easy ways to install a switch on the column.

That is why any I have seen rigged up, simply had a toggle switch installed usually with a Pilot Light on the dash to remember to turn it off.
