WOW! That car is beautiful! I love that color, and can already see the wood on it. A perfect match.

Looking great! I can't tell on my little laptop, but is that Holiday Red color?

For those of you who may not know, that photograph was taken in the "showroom" of new SDC President Tom Curtis in Elkhart IN. BP

You are asking the wrong people! I would say as soon as SHE gives you permission!:p

I believe that I remember an article about it in a not too distant past Turning Wheels.

Perhaps it's Black Cherry. Whatever it is...it looks great!

The paint is just dark Maroon, the cars original color. I guess the car is coming together right on time and it should be done in time for the Intl. meet. For the time being, some parts for it are being finished up and aren't quite ready to be put on the car yet. For the time being, the main part of car just needed a home so that's why it's at Tom's. This photo gives it no justice, this car is BEUTIFUL.

I really hope that this car is done by the time the International meet rolls around.

At least I'll have the proper attire.

To show just how far this car has come along, here's an original piece of wood from it. I believe it came from the section in the rear quarter below the windows.

I just thought of the perfect place to unveil the fully-restored car to the public... In the proving grounds woods from whence it came! :)

I have an original chunk of wood from the woody. It's rough, but I'll give it to anyone that wants it - $10 postage.

Here's the new Woody as it appeared in the Sept. 16th, 1946 Life magazine article. If you collect Studebaker literature, get a copy of this magazine. 9 page article, mostly color photos of design studio, clay models, assembly line, etc.

I love that photo. The car just has a very good, clean look to it. It's really too bad they never produced it, because that would probably be the one station wagon I would want!

Great update on the woody's progress in the latest TW. Any new pics that can be shared here?

I don't have any new photos with me here, but to date the wood has been added and if it hasen't already been added, the glass is going in soon. Once that happens it's coming to South Bend to get an interior. Looks very nice.

Bob, if you still have that original piece of wood from the Woody, I am interested. Jeff

Hi

Wonder why they didn't contract with U. S. Body and Forge, Cantrell or Iona to build batches of woodie wagon bodies, couple hundred at a time to offer as Champions and Commanders? It was a good way to have another body type available that didn't require steel to produce, which was in short supply in those immediate postwar years.
