Claude, this reminds me of Jim Turner's old joke for getting a room.
So Turner goes into a fully-booked hotel and asks for a room.
Clerk: "I'm sorry, Mac; we're all full up."
Turner: "I bet if I was President Reagan [I told you this was an old joke] needing a room, you'd have a room for me!"
Clerk: "You bet!"
Turner: "Well, I know for sure he's not coming, so I'll take that room."
