  • Photo shop question

I am looking for a program (Photoshop or similiar) that will make a photo look like a drawing.
I had a program on one of my older computers that would do this.
    How I don't.
I would like to buy a program and do not want to spend 100.00 for one.
    Anyone have a suggestion?

When I got my first flat bed scanner, a Hewlett-Packard, it came with free software for Adobe Photo Deluxe. It is long gone and I sorely miss it.

You have a couple of options that are free and work pretty well... one is a simple program called "picasa" and the other is called "gimp" ... gimp works a lot like photoshop, but is free, open source software.

      You can get them here:
GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program: The Free and Open Source Image Editor

Learn more about where you can find your photos.

For $25, you can get "Photo to Cartoon" from CaricatureSoft. Web site is http://www.caricaturesoft.com/. They have several programs to convert photos to vector or line art.

Here's an example from a photo I took at the Charlotte meet a few years ago.

Do you by chance have an iPhone? There's an app called Snap & Sketch, and does what you want- and it's FREE. Here's Bill Pressler's former Skytop:

If it helps any, you can e-mail me a picture and I'll convert it and e-mail it back and see if you can use it. The two above are 'pencil' and 'crayon', and there's also charcoal. My e-mail is bams50@msn.com .

Kind of a neat artsy-fartsy thing, and not hard to do. In fact, the offer is open to anyone without an iPhone! Mail a picture and which of the three style(s) you want, and I'll send it back, for free! Can be a picture of anything you want (no porn, of course). Maybe post it here when you get it. Happy New Year!!

                  Bob,
What I'm looking for is to be able to convert a picture to a drawing similiar to the drawings in the 1957 full line brochure. The one with the three Studebakers at the toll booth on the cover.
The program I had on my PC years ago was able to do that.
The programs suggested above are close and I will be working with them more.
                  Thank you for your help.
