Eye Candy for 1/8/12: Olds-powered 63 Avanti

Seen with an interesting hoodless-horseman "Plodge" rod in the background at a cruise near Paris ON last summer. This was the evening the brakes went completely out on my Lark...I attended this cruise with two old college friends who were very taken with the Avanti.

That Avanti belongs to Hans Hilbrand,used to be very active in clubs but not so much the last 10yrs.He was going to switch back to Stude power at on point.

I remember in my old 'hot rod' books/magazines seeing an article about swapping an Olds V8 (mid-'60s or so IIRC) into an Avanti. Might have been in one of the Petersen 'Engine Swap' books.

IIRC, to add insult to injury, the Olds was installed after blowing up two R4 engines on the drag strip.
