Thought I would post my latest Studebaker sign. It is a reproduction that is double sided and hangs against a wall. It is in like new condition.

I purchased this sign a few years back. It is also doubled sided and hangs horizontal.

Just make sure you mount them up high enough where you won't hit your head on them and take a divot out of your scalp:eek::rolleyes:

A new Year's goal of mine is to learn how to post pix on this NG. When I do, will show the blue-white-red, round, porcelan dealer sign on my garage since tghe late 1980s. It is about 42" in diameter, with brass eye-lets to hang it. It originally came from a dealer in Leitchfield, KY about 40 miles from here.

Not a repro and not "like new" condition.

Here is a reproduction of the wood letters used above the parts department of many Studebaker dealers in the '40s and '50s. The large letters are about 6 inches tall. Usually, the "GENUINE PARTS" and "APPROVED ACCESSORIES" were placed on either side of STUDEBAKER, so that the sign stretched about 14 ft. I have sets of these available.
See http://www.studegarage.com/images/other/wood_sign_flyer.pdf for details.

I have three from the plant. I have to go take photos of them, but they are from the foundry. One says "Danger. Approved safety goggles must be worn before entering foundry". Another is off one of the cupolas. I think it says something like "Coleman blasting over" and it's in mint condition. My other is a lot bigger and tell the employees to "Clean up and quality up! A quality product is our best sales pitch, keep your work station clean... etc." I've never seen another like it, and it's all hand painted and was framed in.
Jeff, I must say I admire the factory signs you posted.

When I think of all the signs I passed up when I was buying out dealers.... Packard porcelain, double sided Lark lighted sign, BIG outdoor two-sided neon from the 50s, etc. These are the only ones I kept,

Would some one be good enuff to enlighten about this sign. 24 inch diameter. I believe that it is late 50's and Canadian. I would certainly appreciate an accurate era and approximate value.

I feel like a lame O. I only have 1 sign....so far.
I recently received my 12" porcelain "Studebaker Authorized Service" sign from SI. It is up in my garage and hopefully only the first. I show it with pride and someday hope to live up to its claim of "authorized".

Makes me think of that 80's song..."signs signs everywhere are signs sayin do this, don't do that, can't you read the signs?"

While not a sign I recently added a Motor Trend July 1962 cover poster to the garage.

2R5....Yup it is two sided porcelin. Made by GSW Screen Patd. All I can find on them is that they made a pile of different metal signs for everything you can imagine. Mostly Canadian products. It belonged to a fella who was an International Dealer in Derwent, Alberta. He told me his Dad was a Studebaker dealer there in the late 40's to mid 50's. He does not recall when it came along.

Anybody else got any thoughts?

Al

According to Wikipedia the Five Man Electrical Band reached #3 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc by the R.I.A.A. in August 1971

It is however the perfect theme song for this thread!
