  • Spring Bushings for 3E 12-21

Does anyone have the part numbers for front and rear spring bushings.
I am confused on the part numbers out of the Studebaker International book.
For a 1958 3/4 ton Trans star AKA Gus.
    Thank you
    He is getting some upgrades.

    Anne,
I would think a town like Fresno would have a few shops capable of bonking the spring bushings you need. They are not Stude specific.

I've had good luck at Napa. Like these?

Click on the part and it will give the specs.

I have truck leaf spring bushings, if you will give me the dia you need. They are cheap.

You could always raid your foam hair curler set as a temporary fix. Of course...Gus might object to having pink spring bushings.

If yours are same as mine were, replacing the stock rear spring bushings is not an upgrade. The bolts will always chew through the unlined rubber in short order. I replaced mine with bushings which had a steel sleeve inside and they were still good to go twenty years later. On my first truck I used some Saab suspension bushings, but that's what I had on hand. On the second truck, I took the dimensions to a spring shop and they found some Ford truck bushings with the same OD as the Studebaker spring eye and which had a steel inner sleeve with the same ID as the Studebaker bolt.

The best fix would be to have a spring shop make up two new main leaves with the larger diameter bushings which all trucks use these days. These would improve the noise isolation, the ride and would last forever.

Thank you I'm going to show this thread to David so he can figure out which way he wants to do this. I really Appreciate all of the help. He just tells me to order them but I have to do all the leg work with limited info. So he is measuring them so hopefully we can get something that works good for him.
                Thanks Again
