  • Steering: Upper outer pin orientation question 55 K body

I just completed putting my front suspension back together having replaced all the bushings and pins. I was wondering how alignment was done at the upper outer pin so I checked the shop manual and it says the adjustment is done at the rear of the pin with an allen wrench. I have one pin installed with the adjustment at the front. I saw no reference to placing the pin in a certain orientation in the shop manual.

Does it make any difference which way the pin is installed?

I believe it is a simple eccentric. Shouldn't make a difference unless something obstructs getting your allen wrench in there.

I think the grease zerk on the adjustment side has a bigger diameter to it's base. It may not make a difference if the bushing (with the correct zerk) is on the adjustment end. It's been a while since I have done it, so I may be wrong. Your allen wrench may not fit if the wrong bushing is there.
