        One of the more frightening things to consider in Studebaker history is probably how close they might have come to killing the C and/or K bodies for 1959. It wouldn't have taken much, I'll bet.

        In fact, as Fred Fox has written, production of 1960 Hawks was delayed for some time to keep the dealers filled with new 1960 Larks to resist the onslaught of the Big Three compacts.

        We Studebaker enthusiasts probably dodged a bullet in late 1958 and again in late 1959 when production plans and commitments were being floated. We just didn't know it.
