  • 259 studebaker intake manifold question

I have replacement manifold gaskets and am installing a 4 barrel manifold. Do I use a gasket sealer like Permatex 2 form a gasket or just install? Yes I am a neophite.

I don't use sealer on those. Don't know what other people use, but the factory never used any sealer there.

Here's what I do... (composite gaskets)
      Use Permatex Ultra-Copper gasket sealant.
Put the sealant on just the intake manifold.
Install the gasket and line up on the intake manifold.
      Go to bed.
      Then, in the morning....
Grease up the gasket surface on the head, and install the intake manifold.
      Torque to spec's.
This way you will most likely be able to take the intake manifold off a couple of times without messing up the gasket.
And you don't have to worry about the gasket sliding around.
