Shocks: Avanti Rear Shock Modification

The 74 Avanti needs shocks. Monroe has a $25 rebate on the purchase of four shocks. Rock Auto has a great price on Monroe Shocks.

I love it when the Karma from the Studebaker Heaven come together.

Four shocks shipped to my door (Sensa Trac) $84.67 including 5% discount from Rock Auto. With the $25 rebate Total - $59.67 Huzzah - Huzzah.

I purchase a lot from our suppliers but this is too good a deal to pass up.

The rear shocks needed to be modified by replacing the upper pin with a 2 3/8" X 5/8" OD (7/16" ID) cylinder. I machined mine out of stainless steel.

Be sure to cut the original pin off and use the new cylinder to push it out after lubing the new cylinder.

5759 front, 5831 rear.

I may need to widen the lower mounting ears on the front like I did the KBY's I put on the 83 but that has yet to be determined.

If I am not mistaken, the cross reference for these shocks is 1970-1981 Camaro.
