39? or 40? or both? Is it possible they are aftermarket? Don't appear to ever have been plated.

What year(s) do these Champion grilles fit?

They are replacement fender grilles for the 1940 Champion (photo above). The originals did not have the horizontal bar across the center and in addition they were chrome plated. Yours are the cheaper aluminum alloy aftermarket grilles.Richard Quinn

i had a guy send me a question on my '40 Champion for sale ebay ad if i knew of any grilles for sale. i mentioned your grilles would be on ebay soon. (didn't mention any names, but said you were in fresno).

as far as i know, they should, but Mr. Quinn and others would know for sure...
i think the only front body exterior differences were going to sealed beam headlights in '40.
