    Just wanted to let you guys know that Don Gay of Lowpoint, IL has passed on at age 86.

    Thank you. Perhaps the long thread on Don Gay in the general section could be melded in with this one properly placed in the Obituary section.

      In Loving Memory of Don A. Gay

      Don A. Gay age 86 of Lowpoint, Illinois passed away at 7:25pm Saturday Sept. 10, 2011 at his home with his wife of 56 years Nancy at his side. He was born Sept. 24, 1924 in Gazette, MO, to Don and Beulah (Stopher) Gay. He married Nancy Neale on June 5, 1955 in Mexico, MO, she survives.

      Surviving are 2 daughters, Mike and Linda Vierhout of Low Point, IL, and Ed and Loraine Weers of Metamora. Grandchidren; Beth and Nathan Ireland, David and Brenda Vierhout, Rebecca and Dustin Schmidt, Cailin Peterson, and Sally Weers. Great grandchildren; Michael, Calvin, and Claire Ireland, Isaac Schmidt and Adler Vierhout. He is also survived by 3 brothers James Gay of Edinburg, TX, Ralph and Natalie Gay of Riverton, IL, and Ray Gay of Austin, TX, and two sisters Dorothy Zumpano of Santa Clara, CA, and Norma Meacham of Cabool, MO. He was preceded in death by one sister Sybil Howell.

      Don farmed in Mexico, Missouri prior to moving to Lowpoint, Illinois where he and his father operated a Minneapolis – Moline Implement business. He was also a mechanic for District 150 in Peoria. After retiring from District 150 Don continued his automotive passion selling and shipping Studebaker parts all over the the United States and around the world.

      Funeral services will be at 11:00am Thursday Sept. 15, 2011 at Mason Funeral Metamora Chapel with Gerald Bedell of Ellisworth, IL officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00am until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice and Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com
