This evening, my wife wanted to go to Wal-mart. So...while I was a hostage at Wal-mart, I snuck away to the die-cast display and found one of the trucks. While I was there sorting through the boxes, another adult male hostage, hiding from his wife, asked me what I was looking for. When I told him I was looking for a Studebaker, he told me he had a 46 Truck rusting away in his back yard. He lives about 11 miles from me. Small world. I will check it out next week.

Wal-mart, and others, seem to be downplaying their die-cast displays. The M2 cars are in small boxes stacked about 6 individual boxes to a carton. I found them all jumbled up (imagine that in a kids toy department) on a lower shelf and had to pick through the boxes to find the Studebaker.

In the same way that having a little black poodle for a buddy makes it difficult to maintain my macho masculine identity...getting on my knees at a Wal-mart toy display required me to abandon my adult dignity. However, the momentary humiliation was a small price to pay for success!

It's an addiction

Found a couple of additions to my fleet today at Wal-Mart; a flatbed dually and a green pickup. Still looking for that fancy painted one.
