  • Engine and transmission needed for 62 GT Hawk

I picked up a project 62 GT Hawk and need an engine and transmission. Would prefer an R1 with 4 speed. Any help in locating one would be greatly appreciated.

Since an R-1 would not be stock for a 62 anyway you would probably have better luck buying a standard 289 and doing some upgrades. An R-1 will be harder to find, but you never know when one might come up for sale.

I would definately consider doing exactly that, would also travel a bit to get it, if anyone has a deccent 289 within 300 miles of Warrenton, VA please let me know.

I have a very good 63' Cruiser 289 with OD and all new clutch if you could go that way instead of 4sp....
