Electrical: 6v to 12 v

I'm sure this has been answered before, but, I'm converting my 48 Champ to 12v. Will the overdrive solenoid and relay be ok?

My '53 solenoid had to be replaced when we converted from 6V to 12V.

They will work, but their life may be shortened due to excess heat dissipation. A dropping resistor is not practical. Twelve volt equivalents of both parts are available, and simply bolt in.
