"1953 Studebaker Meet", a three day event?

  • #2
Yes, this was a three day event. The Studebaker Spotlight of July 1953 has a two page spread of photos & there was a total of ninety one entrants. The front cover of that issue has a full photo of a 1909 EMF that competed in the event. I have a brass plaque from that event that was given to the entrants.

Could be the earliest Studebaker Meet on record? What is strange is that if you didn't look at the date it looks like every other SDC meet advertisement for the last 40 years.

Keep in mind that Studebaker had been manufacturing motorized vehicles for more than one-half Century at that time.

I wonder what they offered for a trade-in for some of that early stuff on a brand-new '53...??
