Hi, Guys,
I've been lurking but not posting for a while.
In the home stretch on the Avanti, working on the interior. I have reupholstered the front seats with nice SI red vinyl, fat foam from my local fabric place, and tack strip from an upholsterer. I used the old foam for patterns and everything fit. They look pretty good and should be comfy.
Today I finally got around to disassembling the nasty, rodent-infested, desiccated rear seat and received an ugly surprise. The frame is completely corroded, to the point where the support bars had broken into several pieces. Not salvageable.
I think I have two options. First, I can wait, vulture-like, until someone announces he is parting out an Avanti. (Is there anybody?) Or I can try to locate a substitute. Does anyone know whether there is a same-size rear seat frame in a more common make or model? Dimensions are 46" x 17" x 4" plus the 3.5" support brackets.
I might start carrying a tape measure around and measuring everyone's back seats.
Thanks for your thoughts, as always.
Tom
