I plan to bring my Avanti. It's supposed to be near 80 degrees.

It was fun. I didn't get there till late cause we had a grandbaby arrive 10 days early Friday evening. But I saw 12-15 nice Studes, plus another Turquoise Avanti ('64 R1) and re-joined the Local NC Chapter. Once again I was impressed with all the compliments my Avanti got from the regular "non-Stude" passersby. I was less impressed that it kept vapor-locking on me when I got stuck in bumper to bumper unbearable traffic on the way out. I kept having to pull off the road and let it cool down for 10 mins before it would start again. When I finally got her back out on the open road everything was fine. The engine temp never got above 175F. But even though we moved that dang gas line out some, it must still be too close to the manifold. I'm gonna get some insulation.

Ed - Vapor locking on Avantis is very rare - IF the fuel return line from the factory is installed. I don't remember seeing it on your car, but I wasn't looking either. Do you have one? it's a T fitting on the delivery side of the pump, one line goes to the fuel filter and carb, the other sends gas back to the tank. Mine has never vapor locked in the hottest weather. Russ Farris

Sorry I did not make it. Bad weather at my house.....Figured it would be bad there too.

Russ, it does have the return line on the R2 pump. I'll have to do some more investigation...

We had fun. My son and I must have walked 10 miles (or at least it felt like it). Got back to the car and almost everyone was gone!! We hung around a few minutes more and hit the road. Ugly Betty did good, around 24mpg with the overdrive I installed week before last.
Now I have to gather the stuff to fix the driver's side lower door post. I discovered that a previous fiberglass repair did not hold up (I wonder why??). It doesn't look too awful bad. Just one more thing to add to the list!!
