  • 53 Starliner, first look

Here's the our new Starliner, outside for the first time in 20 plus years. Sal even drove it around the block today. It's a early Los Angeles production tri star car.

You can only tell if it is early by the serial number and/or the build date. I believe that all 1953 Vernon built C/K models had the tri-star (only changed in South Bend).

Thanks for that info, I just saw all the Tri-Star emblems and assumed it was early.

There aren't many of those around. The dealers were supposed to fill in those C-pilar joints as sort of a recall. Most didn't get done. That was one of the running changes in 1953 C/K production. What does your car have for a rear package shelf? The earliest '53 that I owned had the small (about 2 inch) filler piece at the front of the package shelf to make up for the mismatch in car body panels.
