  • Last surviving World War I veteran is gone

    This will be national news, but here is more of a hometown look-

    We were fortunate to have met him several times back in the '80s, but knew his wife and daughter well. His wife died of cancer a few years ago. He was not just the survivor, but a remarkable man.
    One time when his wife was in our retail business our '76 Avanti was parked out front. She was very excited to see it and knew a lot about Avantis. She related that her former neighbor had one and it was his pride and joy.
