In my opinion, the second most beautiful Stude ever after the 53-54 Starliners/Starlights.Last edited by paintim613; 02-27-2011, 08:55 AM.Tim-'53 Starlight Commander Custom in Yuma, AZ

58's were prettier, but 56's were by far the prettiest, and had a nicer interior (except for the 400).

That's what I call a Golden Hawk!
My first Studebaker was the gold chrome Corgi...
If I were to have a Hawk it would HAVE to be that color scheme.63 Avanti R1 2788

'57 vs '58 Golden Hawk

I always hated those giant Hawk emblems stuck on the grille and not a fan of those Finned Parking Lights or 14 inch wheels either. The ONLY thing I like over the
'57 is the Two Tone paint on the BOTH the roof and the Fins.
The Door Panels and Interior was very cheap and ugly on '58's, the door panel looks like a wicker basket was cut up to make the cheesy circular shaped trim design.
Just put me down as a '57 Lover! The Original is always better, BEFORE somebody mucks it all up!

Just my opinion like I said. I like the big emblem in the grille. I like the grilles in the side openings, I like the lower rear floor and one piece driveshaft. I like the asemetrical rear springs. I like the fact that not 90+% are painted that hideous gold color!!!!!!!Well, maybe not hideous, but way over done. I love the fins on the fender lights. (I like the gold ones on the Packard Hawk even more). ( I was saying that the 56 had the nicer interior......not the 58's.....you are right)Last edited by bezhawk; 02-27-2011, 06:01 AM.Bez Auto Alchemy

For years (it may have changed recently) Japanese law was the mirrors had to be located where the drivers line of sight was covered by the area swept by the windshield wipers. Idon't know if they were electrically adjustable from that position.63 Avanti R1 2788
