  • Yea!

I just won an NOS Prestolite 40 Amp alternator for $50!
First time Ebay has produced a bargain for me (since it's inception).
I generally hate auctions.....put a freakin' asking price on things for gosh sake!!!!

Nice! I was in the market for one of those about two years ago. Couldn't find one I liked, so I just sucked it up and rebuilt the dern' thing myself. Made a world if difference!

Ugh. I hope I'm wrong but don't think so.

This type of alternator was used on cars, boats and fork lifts. They all look very similar but there are differences. I think the one you purchased is for the fork lifts. The back portion of the housing is slightly deeper and the shaft in front is a little longer than the Avanti version. I know this because I had one of these in my hands at Reedsville and I asked Jon Myer if it was correct for my car. He told me all of this. It looked just like the one in the ebay ad.

Can other experts confirm or deny?

It is exactly the same as one I have on the shelf (but with broken case) It says it is an ALE case......I have the rotor if it isnt the same...also, I can modify the front if it has a longer shaft.....(simple lathe work)
