Looks like a rather confusing intersection!
For contrast, here is the same (sort of) intersection today. The streets have been changed around some in that area (probably when I-35E went in a few blocks from there) but that brick apt building is still there and so is the MN capitol building in the background. Sadly, no studes to be seen.
