There was a '57 Golden Hawk in Rain Man and Inventing the Abbotts, but neither was red.

      You might try searching here:

Bud? Domas in Calif. has a beautiful Red '57 or '58 GH with Gold fins.
The only Domas I can find in my new 2010 SDC Roster is Leo in Carson City Nevada with a '55 Comm. Hardtop. He lives in a Resort Town like Big Bear Lake, CA I can't remember the exact one, he always shows up at The Annual Orange Empire Chapter La Palma Meet.

I hope you and your Stude. sleuths can track him down!

I sold him parts for his Mother's perfect original light Blue '53 Land Cruiser when I worked at Frost and French Studebaker in L.A. and have known him ever since 1970.

Check with the state film commission. They'll either have or be able to refer you to a listing of vehicles that have been registered by their owners as available for rent to use in movies and other productions.

You can rent your own vehicles that way, too.

The one in inventing the Abbott's was black and belonged to Lee Debeake he sold it to Harvey Hill in San Jose about 11 years ago and I just sold it for Harvey a few months ago to a wine owner in the Livrmore area as a show piece at the winery , a very nice car black with gold fins.

Perhaps we are talking about a Don Johnson & Virginia Madsen movie, I think that it was the hot something or other. I vaguely recall Don Johnson playing a con man of some sort scamming banks and widowed trophy wives. I do remember a Hawk, the color ???

Ok now I will tell the rest of the story. Someone called us wanting our 1957 GoldenHawk for a movie that they are making. I thought it was a sequel but they used a Red GoldenHawk that lives in Connecticut. They wanted to shoot some more scenes but had released the car thinking that they were done. So its back home in Connecticut. So they wanted to change the colors on ours and then change them back to our satisfaction . They were going to pick ours up and bring it back. I just couldn't do it. So I was trying to find a Red one out here for them. There you have it the rest of the Story. He sent emails to all the clubs around out West.
