Hi ya'll..found out some info on my 61 Hawk. The first bit of news is that she's a Texas car, been here all her life from the time she left Indiana. Her first owner was L.M Green, and that's the same name as on the brass dash plaque. I just think that's way too cool, Second bit of news is that a buddy of mine from work met the man who fixed her up in 2000. They met quite by accident, thru Craigslist, and the conversation would have never started if my buddy, Coley Wade, hadn't been wearing his Ford uniform..the other gentleman, who goes by L.D, stated that he knew a Ford tech years ago, started his own shop, got real good at doing Studebaker front end work..Coley remarks that he KNOWS a guy with a Studebaker..well, long story short, these 2 play 20 questions, and it turns out LD rebuilt Pretty in 2000. She had the engine completely rebuilt at 99,000 miles, he also installed new trans synchros, had her repainted and reupholstered. Did quite a bit of work to her, and also told me she had about 10 seconds in a movie..how cool is that?
LD's from around Waco, I'm North of Dallas..it's truly a small world,
BTW, he changed her interior from what he called an "old lady brown" to a red and gray, and repainted her a brighter shade of white with a red fin flash instead of the stock brown. Her colors may not be original, but the build sheet says her engine and tranny are, and that works for me..
Heres some before and after pics
