2011 - What Is Your "Stude" New Years Resolution?

In 2011 ...help bring at least 2 more new members into the Studebaker Drivers Club flock.

To actually drive and show our car as much as possible after a more than 7 1/2 year restoration. It should be done in February.

12-31-2010, 07:38 AM
To find, no, scratch that, to MAKE time to bring more of my cars up to driveable condition.

Get my traction bars and cold air intake done. To make it to some shows and locations that I have never been to and demonstrate Studebaker coolness! After all the car is STU COOL!

To correct those fussy little details that only reveal themselves after completion of a seven-year reconstruction then, be able to turn the key and safely drive three studes with a combined age of 196 years.

I hope to get my 5spd trans. installed. Junior

Do not have one. Probably drive the 60 Lark some and try to get the Provincial off the stands and OTR for Momma.

12-31-2010, 11:01 AM
Install a new windshield, put my hill holder back on, fix my gas tank, and drive my car!

Register and take my Stude on its first real drive around town. I accomplished the 2010 resolution which was to drive it, now I must do so with a whole car.

To finally start the '37 coupe project.

12-31-2010, 12:00 PM
To install a new flanged rear axle. (Thanks for the poke, Ross.)

12-31-2010, 12:03 PM
Replace the flathead in my 57 Champion with a replacement that has been sitting for two years.

12-31-2010, 12:16 PM
I've been wanting to detail the engine compartment in my Lark, but the thought of doing such a dirty job has put me off. 2011 is the year it gets done. (I hope)
Also, I've always wanted a Star Light coupe (any one from 1947 thru 1952). I'll keep looking for one in good shape. At my age, I'm not looking for a big project.
Happy New Year to all my Stude friends.

12-31-2010, 01:28 PM
To drive my '55 to some shows and in general enjoy the car.

12-31-2010, 01:35 PM

Finish our 53 Commander coupe and drive (maybe haul) it to the Oregon Mountain Cruise in Joseph, Oregon this June. It would be fun to check back with everyone at the end of 2011 and see how well we lived up to our resolutions.

Happy New Year to all of you!

I agree with Flashback, to drive to the Southeast zone meet. It won't be my first meet, but it will the first one with a 6 cylinder Stude. Happy New Year to everyone.

12-31-2010, 05:01 PM
Get my M15A-20 flatbed on the road...

12-31-2010, 05:09 PM
To get my Stude running smoothly and problem free. To drive my Studebaker to one of my Chapters meetings for starters. To brag and show that vehicle wherever I go. To do some body work on it by mid year and then make plans to drive that puppy to the 2012 International car meet in South Bend. So instead of typing, lets all start working on our cars so we can increase the Studebaker population worldwide.

12-31-2010, 05:13 PM
My resolution is to find me a woman that appreciates Studebakers. I'll make the same resolution 12 months from now after I fail. :)

I'll make the same resolution 12 months from now after I fail. :)

I don't cotton to that thinking, Brent. Having met you, and gotten to know you through your participation here, there's no doubt you're a good guy, and you'll find candidates. Having met me and gotten to know me through my participation here, let me be your inspiration: If I can find my princess, anyone can!:)

One tip: Let go of the concept of finding one that appreciates Studebakers; you're making the eligibility pool infinitely small! Shoot for one that will tolerate Studes and you'll be fine:) You want cars to be a woman-drawing tool, you better get away from our nerdy Studes:)

12-31-2010, 05:32 PM
My resolution is to finish the projects I'm working on, accomplish more on my Lark and Ranchero and start more projects.

Get my 62 hardtop streetable and try to attend some local chapter meetings. Maybe I can get my ugly Champ body set on the frame in the next 365 days too:)

Get something - anything - done on my 27 Dictator. I've only had it for 44 years! :o

12-31-2010, 07:15 PM
One plan I have in 2011 is to participate more in local old car events. In 2010, I only attended two this year, the Spring Thaw at the very beginning of the season, and High River at the end of September. There are at least 10-15 regularly scheduled events which take place over the summer that are within 180 miles of here that one can readily attend. All of my vacation time-off this year went to both the ATHS National Meet in Pleasenton and SDC International Meet in Glendale last May/June, and the Pacific CanAm Zone Meet in WA in mid-September. Therefore I had to work, and miss a lot of the local events, including this year's Drive Your Studebaker Day. Not that I'm regretting what I did do, but its time for a balance here.

12-31-2010, 07:19 PM
Suspension lift and Super Swamper tires on my Champ 4X4 so I can start mud bogging like the rest of the rednecks around Bubbaland. :p

12-31-2010, 10:44 PM
I'm going to continue the forward progress I have made on the Daytona.I may even get some work done to the Crapparo as well.I'm gonna take the Stude to more cruise nights and car shows in spite of what the naysayers and HIGHHORSERIDRES may say about it.More than that, I'm determined to find a welder that wants to weld, a painter that wants to paint, and an upholsterer who wants to do upholstery!

12-31-2010, 11:07 PM
To earn/save as much as I can towards getting my bodywork/upholstery/paint done, hopefully within 2 years. I intend to have it painted Ford Burnt Orange with Centerline wheels as on that photo of the Black Canadian car that was posted recently.

01-01-2011, 09:55 AM
To enjoy driving my Avanti as often as possible. I drove it to breakfast this morning, so I'm 100% so far this year!

OK, the PA winter snow and road salt is going to knock that average down, but so far - so good.

01-01-2011, 10:14 AM
1.) Retire
2.) Change 3E11 suspension bushings
3.) New trans speedo gear
4.) Brake system overhaul
5.) Meet you in Springfield

01-01-2011, 11:05 AM
New Years Resolution is to reclaim my garage from my son, so I can have room to work on BlueStude53.

I love him and I like having him near so we can see each other regularly (he also helps me a lot by doing many electrical, plumbing, or construction maintenance requirements), but he has too much stuff in my garage to even walk around in there right now.

01-01-2011, 11:15 AM
1. Replace the front bushings and springs on the wagon so I can drive it to the Springfield meet.
2. Get the 60 Convertible driveable and put it up for sale so I have more time and funds for other projects.

01-01-2011, 11:26 AM
Fix that gas gauge!
