  • 1954 Commander Air Cleaner

what is the proper color for the air cleaner on 1954 V8 Commander hard top? I've seen gloss black, satin black and faded gold. Ken, Deltaville, Va

It depends whether you have a paper air cleaner or an oil-bath type.

Both types of air cleaners are gloss black. It was 1955 in which air cleaners turned gold.

I left my 1955 out once, too. It rusted something fierce!
