The aircraft is a Bristol Freighter used for the cross channel air ferry.
Due to its longer nose I can tell it's a Mark 32 (called the Superfreigher or "Super-Wayfarer") which could carry three medium or two large cars plus 23 passengers. No doubt the Stude was considered a large car.
The markings appear to be Air Charter, Ltd. It and Silver City Airways operated a cross channel car ferry with them starting in 1953 and lasting until the 70s.

Didn't James Bond ride in that crate once. In a Triumph Stag, in Diamonds Are Forever?
How did Auric Goldfinger get his custom-bodied Rolls across the Channel? I forget.

I remember seeing one or two Bristol Freighters at the airport in Terrace, B.C. about 10 years ago. Supposedly a local company was rehabbing them for freight use. I seem to remember that they had sleeve-valve engines?

I believe so. If you remember the plot, that's how he smuggled gold out of the UK...he melted it into parts/body panels for his car.
You'd think someone at the airline (since all cars were weighed) might notice that the Rolls was very heavy.

Sheesh! He took the spare tire out. Goldfinger was no dummy.

Very interesting picture. Is that a Renault following the Stude on board?

I asked the members on a UK-based historic aircraft forum about the location
From them I've learned it was taken in Ostend (Oostende) Belgium.
And they say the car is a Renault 4CV.
