  • Gettin' ready for South Bend

The hood and lower air scoop are off S2D and at the painters to be redone. 30,000 miles have taken their toll on the front of the car .

The rear end is out and apart. Awaiting the final few parts to install the Fairborne axles, Richmond Gear Lock-Right and the 4.27 ring and pinion.

Received a couple of parts from Summit today...

I've got it from a usually reliable source that speed shifting the T-10 can get me up to .2 seconds in the quarter....but, if you miss a shift you lunch the motor...unless you have a rev limiter.

    I chose this one...

It's a pretty small package (2 1/2" x 3") from Pertronix. Works with essentially any kind of ignition system. It has switches to set the rev limit (1,000 to 9,000 in 100 RPM increments). No "pills" or chips like other units.

At Omaha, I had to "walk" the car out of the hole, let it hook up, then get on it due to the one leg rear end and the relatively high (3.54) axle. Like this...

In so doing, I avoided any spring wind up and axle hop also. With the low gears and the locker, I want to be able to side step the clutch at a decent launch RPM. Without some sort of traction bars I'm afraid I'll have big time spring wind up. I'll try these slapper bars...

Hopefully they will hold the rear end down.

Thats funny those are the exact bars I put on my 41 last week Dick
It did stop the wheelhop (on a lonely country road) but not the wheelspin,I'm working on that though.

Yes Dick, Missed shifts speed shifting can be costly.
