Has anyone tried getting an SDC discount at the Motel 6? Husband and friend have travelled to Illinois and back from the west coast and have not had one Motel 6 accept the discount code. They've not heard of it and won't accept it. Peter and Glenn are 0 for 12 getting the SDC discount.

Judy and Skyway,

The SDC Discount is listed on the Motel6 website.
If I were you, I'd call this number and complain. Maybe they will do something for you.

If you need assistance regarding a past Motel 6 stay, please contact our Guest Relations Department at 800-557-3435

I've never tried the SDC discount but I have AAA, AARP and a couple of others. The girl never asks for any of 'em. They just look at my DL and snicker.

I don't have the luxury <G> of a senior's discount (yet), and I usually book my stays on-line, which doesn't appear to be a problem, because you can go directly to the website to book with the discount. Peter's drive-bys and actually ours in San Francisco area last summer were all unsuccessful.

The parent company does respond to complaints, so I will encourage Glenn and Peter to voice their opinions to Motel 6.

I was going to use it this last spring but they said I already had a senior discount so I didn't need it.

The Motel 6 in York is a total dishrag fleabag. It used to be a Red Roof Inn a few years ago. It was nice then.
They get a thumbs down from me. (Just my 2 centavos.)

Unless it is the height of some special event, you should be able to get 10 per cent off at just about any motel. I managed a motel for a major chain and if you are trying to sell rooms you even sign people up for a discount card when they are checking in. If the desk clerk doesn't go for a deal ask to see the manager. The company wants the property full if possible.

Add to that what the Wifey (General Manager at an up-scale lodging establishment in South Bend for 19 years) said; "If you're a member of the human race, you should be able to negotiate a 10% discount off rack rate.":)
