  • LED Third Brake Light

    Hi,

I make this 10 LED Third Brake Light for classic cars like the Studebaker that operates on 6 or 12 Volts. The light has been designed to flash to get the attention of following drivers, and then after a few seconds it goes to a steady on. The lights also use a dc plug and jack to make them easily attachable and removable.

This light is intended to be mounted on the inside of the rear window.

If you desire to have a light that mounts externally, I make this light as well:

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    EJ

    L.E.D. Third Stoplight

Doesn't it require that you connect it to both Right and Left Stop/Turn Signal wires so a logic circuit can determine if both are on or just one, to prevent it's working with the turn signals?

Our cars do not have the separate rear turn signals like Foreign cars and some newer U.S. cars have.

I don't think I would want a bright, blinding, Flashing Stop Light, a medium bright constant one should be more than adequate and less annoying.
I have driven behind one of those Motorcycles that have one of these things built into their saddle bag/storage box and it is very annoying and distracting flashing in your face.

You'd have to tie it into the brake light circuit between the brake light switch and the turn signal switch. Sounds like a good idea, but CASO it isn't.

I wonder if this could be wired in with a regular flat four lead plug?

I've seen them at some some shows and I think it is a good idea. I don't like the flashing idea, either, but if you look at the website it appears that fuction is adjustable. The nice thing is that it is easily removed as it is mounted to the rear glass by suction cups. People drive like idiots these days. A little extra safety is not such a bad thing.

Just to let you know that the light was originally designed based on feedback from 356 Porsche owners. The 356 Porsche shares the same filament for brake and turn signal as well. Some guys like it to flash with their turn signal for the extra attention. Others wire it directly to the brake light switch so it only functions with the brakes.

Also, if you desire, the light at www.brakeflasher.com/brake.htm can be adjusted to not flash at all, and simple go to a steady on when power is applied.

The light at www.brakeflasher.com/brake_al.htm can be ordered as steady only. It's not adjustable since it is encased in epoxy.

I hope this isn't a trend. A generic product posted by someone who has 2 posts. I'm not saying that the poster is not a fine person, but it gives a different flavor to the forum.
This type of product could be a safety factor fo those traveling with their Studes. I would like a very thin line of leds just above the lower window rubber that would not be noticed until you stepped on the brake.

I wondered at first how you knew the price, but then realized I could go to the checkout and it came up. Product with shipping about $75.00. Not CASO.

Just wanted to clarify that these lights do not flash continuously. They only flash when power is first applied for a couple of seconds, or what you adjust it too, and then remain on steadily.

For example, say you are approaching a red light, when you apply your brakes, the light will flash for a couple of seconds, and then as you wait at the traffic light with your foot on the brake, it will remain on steadily.

The flashing cycle repeats the next time you apply the brakes.
However, if you don't desire the flashing at all, the light can be ordered without it.

I suspect the flashing function would be contrary to the SAE standards that govern such things, and having the third brake light flash with the turn signals definitely would be.

I would like to politely suggest to the original poster that he apologize for spamming our Forum, and that the moderators consider removing the spam post.

I have zero problem with the occasional commercial promotion of Studebaker-specific parts and/or services here. Commerce is a legitimate part of public discourse, too. But ads for generic automotive bling have no more place here than do Viagra ads.

We are all adults here. Any of us who wants a third brake light can do a Web search, or go down to our local FLAPS and buy a kit.

I have thought about this a lot since I got rear ended in my brand x pick-up back in February. I have researched the web and found lots, including the one listed above. I am tempted to get this one on ebay. http://tinyurl.com/3496ncg I don't care if it is removable, I am not going to have my car judged for points. I just want to wake up the person behind me.
