    Forrest W. Meighen, 83, passed away August 21, 2010.

    He was born May 7, 1927 in Chillicothe, the son of Forrest C. (Gladys) Meighen. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a supervisor for Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, and later started Meighen Motorcycle Repair and Studebaker Fun Spot. He was a member of Adoniram-Joppa Lodge #517 F&AM, the National Studebaker Driving Club, and the Northeast Ohio Studebaker Club.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn and brothers, Robert Lewis Meighen and Richard ``Dickey' Curtis. He is survived by his son, Kevin (Bonnie) Meighen; daughters, Tracy (Ed) Logan and Kathleen (Jerry) Wellner; grandchildren, Meagan, Justin (Katie), Tyler, David, Sydney, Colton, Clinton, and Clayton; great-grandchildren, Trent Forrest and Clayton; also his loving friend and companion of 15 years, Carol Holmes.

    Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Adams Mason Funeral Home (791 East Market Street). Military rites will be performed at 7 p.m. by Firestone V.F.W. Post #3383, followed by a Masonic service and funeral service. Inurnment at Hillside Memorial Park. (ADAMS MASON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 330-535-9186)

    I am sorry to hear about the loss of "Bill". I was always struck by how friendly and low-key he was, and his row of Golden Hawks always brightened up the Wink's meet, and subsequently, the Summit Racing meet. There was a tribute to "Bill" at the Summit meet this year, as there should have been. Sympathy to your family.
