  • Early Delco V8 distributor question?

Hi guys, a friend has a early Delco distributor in his stude V8 and would like to convert it to electronic.

Is there a pertronix type kit available for these earlier distributors?

Or is he better off switching to a late chevy style Delco or prestolite?

Let me know what you think.

    Thanks

    Tom

A pertronix unit is available for the early Delco. Call Phil Harris at Fairborn Studebaker. He has them in stock.

I have an early Delco with Prtronics in it that I bought from Ted Harbit years ago ....works great !
Another thing you mentioned about changing to a Chevy distributor....don't forget studes rotate counter clockwise , opposite to Chevs.

Yes I am aware that chevy distributors turn in the opposite direction. I was referring to the later Delco stude distributors that take the window style cap, the same as a chevy.

        Thanks for the info!
