  • Cool 52 drag car

A little modified "candy" I've been meaning to scan and post. My Dad snapped this back in 2001. At Route66 in Chicago I think.
I haven't spoken with the owner, but I'm sure I remember a note and picture of this car in the letters section of turning wheels a few years back. In that picture, the car was wheels up on the starting line! I have no idea of the motor or chassis underneath. But there is some nice work here.

I had to save that picture to my file. Too bad you don't have a picture of it coming off the line.
BTW The brother and I have been getting into the storage areas looking for 52 chrome. I think I can help you keep from painting yours like this guy did. I will probably get pictures on Monday to send you.

Yep, I see the familiar flat land and the stadium back there, that's Chicagoland Motor Speedway in Joliet, IL. That looks like the circle track in the rear where the NASCAR guys race. The adjoining sister track is the Rt. 66 Raceway, which is the dragstrip on the same property.

I always loved the looks of the 52. They look evil, wicked, mean and nasty. And look like they are goin 100mph just sitting still.

Those fat rear fender cars just look sooooo good lowered over some big meats. I'm wondering if the front end of that might be drooped a bit also.

Another of my "artsy" black and white shots of Old Spot in South Dakota.
