  • Fuel Sending unit

I am having trouble with my fuel sending unit in my 54 coupe. The car has been completely restored with fresh piant on all surfaces. The fuel sending unit starts intially like it is working and then after a couple of second or a minute or two sometimes it pegs out on full. I have intalled a seperate ground from the unit to the chassis with the same results. Any ideas? What should the resistance be on the sending unit? Could it be bad? I am at a lost and after friday night running out of gas is not good. Thanks for your help.

The wire from the sending unit to the gauge could be grounding somewhere intermittently. Check the wire from the back to the dash gauge for bare spots or it could be pinched somewhere in between Dominic.
