In my 57 Commander, what would I get that would appear like the original headliner. Right now it is falling apart and rusty colored, but I think thats becAuse of rust and not original.

It was color keyed to the Seat material, in either Vinyl or Cloth to match or co-ordinate with them.
The Production Order from the Studebaker National Museum here: http://www.studebakermuseum.org/
will help.
Most Vinyl headliners were off-White, probably because white was the predominant seat & door panel trim color.Last edited by StudeRich; 07-27-2010, 08:58 AM.StudeRich

I'm not entirely sure about the '57s, but I believe they were the same as the '56s. In that case, your headliner would look something like this:
Gosh Rich, and here I thought the headliners were done along the line of the Henry Ford palet of colours: any colour you want as long as it's white.Last edited by studeclunker; 07-27-2010, 08:57 AM.Home of the famous Mr. Ed!

Ron, I am guessing you had full Vinyl seats AND (just a wild guess here!) it's a Station Wagon, not a Sedan, that's why you have what you have.StudeRich

Well Rich, ya made me look. I went out to my own Commander parts-car and had a look around. Sadly, someone removed nearly every trace of the original headliner. There are some very small traces of rust-red-coloured looking cloth. It looks like cheese-cloth and is as delicate as a spider's web. I would imagine that this was originally a light blue, like the base colour of the Commander?Home of the famous Mr. Ed!
